Qualification Shoots July 2016

SIX pistol shooters turned out on July 17, on a calm but cold day to compete in a Service Pistol‘B’ and Police Pistol 1 qualification shoots, continuing to work towards the next Island Games.

There were two new shooters taking part and learning the different disciplines on offer.

The Service Pistol ‘B’ Shoot previously described, is a military style shoot of a total of 24 rounds but with the ability to use any standard style of pistol or revolver with a calibre between .354 and .455.

Disciplines include

6 rounds at 25m in 20 seconds,
6 rounds at 20m in 15 seconds,
6 rounds at 15m in 10 seconds
and 6 rounds at 10m in 6 seconds.

Results:

1st David Peck 98 PB
2nd Nevin Middleton 96 PB
3rd Graham Didlick 83
4th Sue Costello 74 PB
5th Cathy Pollard 61
6th Sarah Cooper 42

Well done to the ladies. Sue’s scores are now beginning to build towards the top of the table with improved accuracy and technique and Cathy and Sarah’s first time attempts in this discipline were brilliant.
We then followed with the Police Pistol 1 (PP1) Shoot. 30 rounds with scoring taking place between distances.

12 rounds fired from 25 metres in two minutes,
12 rounds fired from 15 metres, one round each two second exposure of the target,
6 rounds from 10 metres two rounds at each two second exposure of the target.

Results were:

1st D Peck 289.6 =PB
2nd N Middleton 285.11  PB
3rd G Didlick 276.2
4th S Costello 243.1 PB

Maximum possible score is 300 and ideally a shooter should be regularly shooting over 270 in this discipline to meet potential games qualification scores.

Well done to Dave Peck equalling his previous best from Jersey and to both Nevin and Sue attaining new PBs.
